The Kessler Collection Presents Third Performance of the Popular Kessler Signature Young Artist Series

ORLANDO, FL (May 21, 2007) – The Kessler Collection and Grand Bohemian Hotel today announced the third performance of the popular Kessler Signature Young Artist Series supporting young artists across Florida. This month’s program features the brother and sister duo of 16 year-old violinist Paishiun Nelson Hsieh and 14 year-old pianist Diana Hsieh, both students of highly-acclaimed local pedagogues Svetlana Gubnitskaya and Zalina Gurevich. Ms. Gubnitskaya and Ms. Gurevich are direct exponents of the Russian music traditions and their students consistently are awarded for their accomplishments.

The upcoming free recital is open to the public and is held monthly, featuring a new artist each month. The event will be held at Kessler's Grand Bohemian Hotel in Orlando on Wednesday, May 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Klimt Rotunda. The AAA Four-Diamond Boheme Restaurant will be featuring an exquisite three-course luncheon offering for those attending the performance.

Paishiun Nelson Hsieh began learning violin at age four. In 1996, the family moved to Orlando and he started studies with Lev Gurevich in 1996 and Sergiu Schwartz in 2003. Nelson has performed in the Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church concert series and the Florida Youth Artist's Orchestra (FYAO) where he was concertmaster. He also won many awards in the Florida State Music Teacher Association (FSMTA) District Five Competition as well as the State Concerto Competition of FSMTA in junior concerto in 1999 and in intermediate concerto in 2002. He was one of the finalists and placed second in strings of the 2002 and 2004 Young Artist Competition of the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. He was a national finalist and the Southern Division Winner of 2003 and 2004 MTNA Junior Performance Competition and won the third place in 2004 national competition. He won first place in 2005 at the national level. He also won the most prestigious award - the Irene Muir Award - in 2003 Florida Federation of Music Clubs 66th Annual Junior Convention. He won the 2004 Stillman-Kelly Competition at the state level, and also won it at the national level in 2006. He also won the New World Symphony’s Senior High Concerto Competition and has performed with New World Symphony.

Diana Hsieh began her piano studies with Zalina Gurevich at age 4. In 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, Diana was recognized as highly commended in the MTNA (Music Teachers’ National Association) competition and won in the state competition and placed second place in the Southern Division. She has won many awards in the Florida State Music Teacher Association (FSMTA) Concerto Competition, and has been a finalist in the Young Artist Competition of the Bach Festival Society in Winter Park. Recently, she has earned several awards in the Florida Federation of Music Clubs Convention. She is currently a sophomore in high school, and is 14 years old.
