ORLANDO, FL (July 5, 2007) – The Grand Bohemian Gallery, a Kessler Collection gallery, is pleased to announce its latest exhibition, Colores de la Cultura. The exhibition will feature local and internationally-renowned artists and runs from July 9 - August 5, 2007. International artists exhibiting include Reinaldo Vargas, Carlos Pfeiffer, and Octavio Rojo.
Juan One Sepúlveda Juan “One” Sepúlveda was born in Puerto Rico, the birthplace of his love for life and his appreciation for diversity. Sepúlveda calls his style inspirational symbolism. In contrast with the surrealist movement, he notes that the inspirational symbolism style create visual metaphors that can inspire the viewer to grow and prosper and that, although inspirational symbolism shares some visual similarities with the surrealist movement, it differs from it in that it utilizes symbols as modern metaphors to promote positive change. Sepúlveda will be showcasing the oil on canvas works Unexpected Opportunity, Contemplating Opportunity, and Through the Gate at the exhibit.
Pedro Brull Local artist Pedro J. Brull was born in Puerto Rico and now lives in Central Florida. His theme for this exhibition is called Elements of Music: A Surrealist Expression, as his pieces incorporate a myriad of images related to the creative expressions. Brull's art is a blend of the finer elements of cubism and the imaginative techniques of the surrealism. He calls his style abstract surrealism, as it is created by breaking down elements of an inspiration and combining them in a surreal environment. At the exhibit, Brull will be showcasing Dancing at the Palladium (oil on panel), Music Elements 1, (mainly oil on canvas) and Music Elements 2 (mixed media).
Reinaldo Vargas Born in Havana, Cuba on January 7, 1961, Vargas graduated from La Escuela de Bellas Artes San Alejandro in Havana in 1981. From 1981 to 1984, he taught drawing in La Casa De La Cultura while he worked for a cinematography company in Havana as a poster designer. In 1993, he decided to immigrate to Europe due to the political situation in Cuba. After four years in Paris, France, Reinaldo decided to move to Atlanta, GA were he currently resides. At the Colores de la Cultura exhibit, Vargas will showcase various mixed media pieces, including El Angel Con Manzana, El Pintor, and El Deleite Del Tabaco.
Carlos Pfeiffer Carlos Pfeiffer was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1945 and lives there today as a painter and muralist. He began his studies in painting at the Roque Saenz Pena Popular School, and continued studying at the Ernesto de la Carcova Art School. Pfeiffer's work is done with a post-modern sense, being inspired by the indigenous cultures of all America. Pfeiffer will display his oil on canvas works of landscapes and still life at the exhibition.
